For JC, training has never just been something you do in the gym. It’s a lifestyle shaped by years of competing as an athlete.
Throughout his baseball career, training was part of his daily routine. But staying able to perform consistently meant looking beyond strength and conditioning alone. Over the years, JC started paying more attention to the things that allowed his body to keep performing: recovery, nutrition and sleep.
And as his career progressed, his approach changed with it. He still wanted to compete at a high level, but also realised that training had to support his body for the long term. Longevity became increasingly important. Not just to keep playing baseball, but to stay strong, mobile and able to enjoy everything outside of sport too.
Now, as his playing career gradually moves towards its later stages, JC wants to pass that experience on to others. His coaching focuses on building strength and mobility, improving recovery and creating a sustainable approach to training that lasts.
For JC, that starts with being honest about your foundation. Training can only do so much if the basics around it aren’t there. Nutrition, daily movement, recovery and sleep all matter. And consistency is what brings them together.
His favourite exercise? The single-leg Romanian deadlift. A movement that requires strength, stability and control, which fits his approach to training pretty well.
His philosophy? Get the basics right, stay consistent and build a body that keeps working for you.
